Mr David Glasson is a well-respected authority on Sydney’s maritime heritage, having lived and worked in & around the Harbour for most of his life. David’s exquisite hand-built scale models are meticulously researched, and feature replicas of boats he has been employed in at one one time or another, or those he has identified as of significance to the Royal Australian Navy, and recommended for acquisition to the Naval Heritage Collection.

In 2016, David Glasson and a dedicated team (Glenn Wallace, Brian Thomas, Cyrille Humbert, Dennis O’Brien, Tony Taranto, Benoit Bouf, Neville Brown & Toby Maigaard), had completed the 9-year restoration of MATILDA, the Royal Australian Navy Standard Motor Launch (1910), ex-H.M.A.S. Parramatta (I), escorting her via crane lighter (navigated by Mr Clive Sewell), to her new home at the Naval Heritage Museum, Garden Island Dockyard, Sydney.

In 2015, David Glasson received the Wooden Boat Association (N.S.W.) Hal Harper Award for authentic historic restoration [See also : > Heritage Restoration > The RAN Standard Motor Launch Model]
